What We've Done So Far, and What's Next

Over the past year, we've focused our investment in the cPanel platform on security and stability, alongside platform compatibility and new AI capabilities.

Security and stability

This year, we put more into security, both in the tools we use and the people behind them. We worked closely with internal teams and external security researchers to find and fix issues early, helping keep cPanel secure and reliable for the businesses that depend on it.

In 2026, we shipped 8 targeted security releases, and most servers were patched within 90 minutes. That helped reduce the time servers were exposed to known issues. We also made security updates easier to apply and problems easier to diagnose, with improvements including CSF through cPanel Updates, Short-Lived SSL Certificate Support, and Server-Wide PHP Error Logging.

Also available now:

• Platform compatibility: cPanel now runs on CloudLinux™ 10 and supports MariaDB 11.8, so you can move to current operating system and database versions. GoAccess replaces AWStats as the web statistics tool.

• Meridian and cPanel AI: A redesigned cPanel interface organized around what customers want to do. It includes guided onboarding to a working website, an AI Assistant that answers routine questions, AI App Hosting for Node.js apps built with tools like ChatGPT, Claude, and Lovable, an AI builder, and MCP support.

• MCP Support: Approved AI tools can securely and selectively access hosting environments for operations and management tasks.

Looking ahead, Q4 2026 and beyond:

• Security: Continued targeted security releases, with updates that are faster and easier to apply.

• PHP 8.6 and Ubuntu 26.04 Support: Planned before the end of 2026.

• Meridian SDK: A design library and toolkit for plugin integrations and custom builds, including white-labeling of the Meridian interface.

• Feature-rich App hosting: Self-healing app recovery, deeper admin controls, Git integrations, and support for more technologies, enabling apps built with AI tools to run reliably in production.

• Expanded AI Assistant: Coming to WHM, with capabilities extended to diagnosis and resolution of complex site and server issues, reducing the need for direct intervention.

• Nova: An agentic AI builder for apps and WordPress sites, available to activate within cPanel, enabling a new revenue stream for you.
